In this event, we will hear from Christopher Marquis, the Sinyi Professor of Management at the University of Cambridge (and formerly Professor at Cornell University for 6 years and Harvard for 11 years), about his newest book: The Profiteers: How Business Privatizes Profits and Socializes Costs.
 
Marquis’ research examines business sustainability and social entrepreneurship, and he has written two prior award-winning books, including Better Business: How the B Corp Movement Is Remaking Capitalism and Mao and Markets: The Communist Roots of Chinese Enterprise, the latter was a Financial Times Best Book of 2022.
 
Joining Marquis for a panel discussion will be Char Love and Jeremy Oppenheim. Char Love, Global Director of Advocacy, Natura&Co where she is developing, leading, and executing a strategic, creative, and impactful advocacy strategy for Natura&Co. Love is also Co-Founder of B Lab UK, Heliotropy and Volans and Executive-in-Residence at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Jeremy Oppenheim is co-founder and Managing Director of Systemiq, and previously worked as Senior Partner at McKinsey, at the World Bank as a Senior Economist and at the New Climate Economy Project as its first Global Director. Systemiq’s work focuses on driving progress towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement through system change and by transforming markets, asset classes, value chains and policy settings in four key economic systems: nature and food, materials and circularity, energy, and sustainable finance.
