Cornell Alumni in Oxford Meet-up at the Oxford Botanic Gardens in May 2026

The Cornell Community in Oxford gathered on May 23rd for a relaxed spring meetup at the Oxford Botanic Garden. On a beautifully sunny afternoon, a small group of alumni explored the blooming gardens together, admiring the carefully designed landscapes, riverside views, and punters drifting along the water.

The group also visited the garden’s greenhouses, enjoying the distinct climates and plant collections in each. One alum shared a particularly memorable connection between Oxford and Cornell through the “Corpse Flower,” which appears both in Oxford’s greenhouse collection and at Cornell’s Liberty Hyde Bailey Conservatory – sparking reflections on Ithaca and shared Cornell memories.

The afternoon brought together alumni from across the UK, including attendees from both Oxford and Warwick, and created space for conversation about life after Cornell, experiences in the UK, and the paths that brought everyone together in Oxford.

After the walk, the group continued the gathering over coffee and ice cream from the Horsebox Coffee Cart, relaxing together in the shade and strengthening new and existing alumni connections.
