Join CCUK’s Bo Yang for a tour along the Thames path to explore the scenic view within this residential community, as we uncover the rich history dated back to the 18th century. We will also explore the local farmers’ market (if weather allows) and grab a drink together in one of the oldest bars in the neighbourhood.

Please note that the walk’s duration will be contingent on the day’s weather conditions. In the event of rain, our organizer will reach out to each attendee individually.

Time: The Tour will start promptly at 2pm BST

Meeting Point: Royal Mint Court, London EC3N 4AB

Cost: Free to join (cash bar at the pub after)

Drinks Location: Prospect of Whitby, E1W 3SH.

Note: we will conclude the walk and head to the pub around 15:30 to 16:00. If you can’t make it to the walking tour but are interested in joining for the drink, please email Bo Yang so that we can reserve the place in a timely fashion.

CCUK’s International Spirit of Zinck’s Night

Join CCUK for the annual International Spirit of Zinck’s Night celebrations, where Cornellians gather the world round to celebrate all things Big Red on the same night of the year.

“We’ll all have drinks at Theodore Zinck’s, when I get back next fall!” goes “Give My Regards to Davy,” the timeless Cornell fighting song. But just who exactly is Theodore Zinck?

Theodore Zinck was an Ithaca saloon owner whose pub, the Hotel Brunswick, was a popular haunt for Cornellians in the 1890s. When he died in 1903, a series of bars on and around Collegetown adopted his name over the years. The last one closed in the 1960s, and Cornellians started commemorating the spirit of Zinck’s Night by gathering at an establishment on a Thursday night, once a year. This tradition of undergraduates coming together to enjoy camaraderie and refreshments has grown into a gathering for Cornellians of all stripes everywhere.

Time: 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Cost: £10 (light snacks will be provided)

Location: We will be meeting at the Old Bank of England Pub on the Mezzanine Level (up the nearest stairs when you enter) @ 194 Fleet Street, EC4A 2LT, conveniently located near the Temple tube stop.
