DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to a reception with Cornell’s Vice Provost Katherine McComas and Executive Director Basil Safi from Cornell’s Einhorn Center for Community Engagement, who are visiting London as part of a collaboration with King’s College, one of Cornell’s Global Hubs.   The Vice Provost for Engagement and Land-Grant Affairs is responsible for a broad range of relationships, programs, and initiatives that further Cornell’s public engagement mission globally, locally, and across New York state, where Cornell serves as the state’s land-grant university.   Katherine McComas has been the Vice Provost for Engagement and Land-Grant affairs since July 2018. She is a professor of risk communication in the Department of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where she previously served as department chair. She is a fellow and former president of the Society for Risk Analysis.   Basil is responsible for providing senior leadership, planning and strategy development in support of the Einhorn Center to shape a wide range of projects and initiatives in community engagement. He advises senior university leaders on key issues, provides recommendations for strategic planning and oversees coordination, analysis and reporting for the center’s activities.   Katherine and Basil will briefly open the event by sharing insights on the work of the Einhorn Center, their collaboration with King’s College, and on Cornell’s unique land grant mission and the implications for how Cornell works with international partners or global hubs, followed by open Q&A and a drinks and nibbles networking reception with fellow Cornell alumni. Tickets include light bites and one drink of choice from the bar. Once you arrive at the Bank of England pub, please go all the way to the back on the ground floor directly to the other side of the bar to find our reserved space.
